The Southern CoOperative Magazine

Project description:

The Southern CoOperative MagazineThe Southern Co-operative magazine is a print and digital lifestyle magazine providing inspiring and engaging content to customers in 210 food stores, nearly 40 funeral homes and over 158,000 members.

Currently a bi-annual publication, the free magazine focuses on what’s great about living in and visiting southern England, bringing a sense of local distinctiveness and pride of place in our communities.

With a purpose beyond profit, this thriving, independent co-operative is owned by its members. In 2015/16, total sales grew by 4.7% to £366.8m, 3% more customers were served, 11 new stores opened, £955,000 contributed back to local communities across the south and £2.8m profit was shared with members.

The Opportunity

It is a very exciting opportunity to reach a wide audience of over 150,000 members across the region (Devon, Bristol, Newbury to Brighton!).

We are increasing the magazine print run to 60,000 from 30,000 which will be distributed via 210 stores across the region.

The majority of stores and members are in Hampshire so it is a great opportunity to target and engage with a Hampshire audience who might be looking for somewhere new to visit, but also with a strong readership (16% of members) in Sussex.

Previously the magazine has only featured advertising from national food brands  but we are working with The Southern Co-Operative to provide more destination-lifestyle articles, features and advertisers which carry the same ethos of the TSC of using and promoting local venues.
