6 Content Marketing Tips For Planning Content With Ease

6 content marketing tips for planning content with ease

Planning content can be exhausting and overwhelming when it just feels… well, constant! Here are our top 6 content marketing tips for planning content with ease, and reducing the stress around it!

Set goals.

If you don’t have a clear roadmap of where you want to go, how do you expect to get there? Setting goals is crucial to knowing what you need to achieve, and what you need to do. What’s the ultimate goal of content marketing? To compel your audience to take action.

Before creating each piece of content, be intentional with what the call-to-action will be. The call-to-action could be signing up to the newsletter, subscribing to the blog or following your social media accounts.   Connect each piece of content with a measurable result before creating and centre topics around that.

Change things up.

You want to keep things different and interesting, otherwise people will get bored. Vary your content with different types of content so your audience don’t just expect the same old infographics and nothing else, for example.

Different content types include infographics, how-to articles, thought leadership pieces, profound quotes, or even curating content from other sources so your audience can peruse information relevant to them in one place!

Look at industry-related content for inspiration.

Hit a dead end? Look at what others are doing in your industry. Looking at content might give you a fresh new idea of how you could offer a new angle on something, or do something differently.

How are you going to innovate? Remember that sometimes creativity can take its sweet time when thinking of new ideas, so do things that support it. This includes looking after yourself and taking time away from your desk. Your best idea might just be waiting to show up when you’re out on a walk surrounded by inspiring nature (FYI - walking and nature are both great for creativity).

Think about value.

Your content will be engaging if your ideal customers find value in what you’re sharing. When you provide value, people will be more invested in following you and looking out for your content.

The questions to answer are, ‘what do your audience need help with?’ ‘what are your customer’s FAQs?’ and ‘what is it about our products/services they are interested in?’ Look at your answers and transform this into content.

Get clear and organised.

You will feel so much better if you create a content calendar, a space to plan and see all your upcoming posts! Nothing feels better than having a clear plan laid out in front of you - the overwhelm melts away!

There are a variety of free and paid options when it comes to choosing your content calendar platform, including Monday.com, Trello, Google Calendar, Loomly, CoSchedule, ContentCal and Hubspot. Some allow multiple people within teams to add to the calendar. Research them and have a think about which ones suit your content needs the most.

Ease the pressure to post and get a scheduling tool.

Some content calendars double up as scheduling tools, especially when it comes to social media, such as Hootsuite. Scheduling tools allow you to batch all your content at once and schedule them so you could schedule a whole month’s worth of content and not have to think about uploading every day.

They can also help you better visualise what your content will look like. Some show what the posts will look like next to each other, which is super useful if you have a specific aesthetic like an Instagram theme or layout. These are so handy for being more efficient with your time and easing the exhaustion of running on the treadmill of constant content.
