Is Your Website Answering the Question Families Are Actually Asking?

Ai generated image

Most visitor attraction websites answer one question very well. What's here, and when can I visit?

Opening times. Ticket prices. A list of things to do. All useful. All necessary.

And none of it is the question that decides whether a family books.

Being found is not the same as being chosen

A family has found you. They're on your website. They're interested. But they can't yet tell whether you're right for them, on their day, with their children, their grandparents and their budget.

So they leave. Not because you're wrong for them, but because you didn't show them you were right.

That's the gap between findable and chosen. And it rarely shows up on a marketing dashboard.

What 904 families told us

In our Great Days Out Survey, the number one frustration families have when planning a day out is not knowing what's actually worth it, at 29.6%. Close behind, 27.1% said attraction marketing feels too salesy.

Nearly a third of your potential visitors are put off by the way most attractions talk about themselves.

And here's the myth that sits underneath: that more information builds more confidence. It doesn't, if it's the wrong kind.

When we asked what people wish attraction websites told them, the comments were full of the same requests. Parking, and whether it's easy or chaotic. Queue times. What's genuinely included in the ticket price, not buried in the small print. Whether dogs are welcome. What happens if it rains. Honest reviews, not hand-picked ones.

These aren't gaps in content. They're gaps in honesty. And families can tell the difference.

What a confident visitor attraction website looks like

It answers "is this right for us?" quickly

Suitability was the top reason families give for wanting to visit, at 58.3%. Show what different ages will enjoy. Be honest if you're brilliant for under-tens and quieter for teenagers. The families who book will arrive with the right expectations and leave happy.

It's clear about cost

Clear pricing and value came a close second at 58.2%. Make it easy to see what a family will spend and what they get for it.

It shows real visits

Photos and video of an ordinary day, not just a perfect Sunday in July. Testimonials with context, like "we came with a 3-year-old and a 7-year-old, and here's what they loved".

It answers the awkward questions

A good FAQ covers car park surfaces, toilets, buggy access, food and rain. The questions families actually type into Google at 8pm on a Wednesday.

It sounds human

Honest beats promotional every time. Families can spot marketing spin from a long way off.

Try this today

Land on your homepage as a stranger. Within a few seconds, can you answer: what is this place, is it right for my family, what will it cost, and is it open right now? If any of those takes longer, that's where bookings are quietly slipping away.

A fresh pair of eyes

When you know your attraction inside out, it's hard to see your website the way a first-time visitor does. Our marketing audit looks at your website and marketing through the eyes of your audience and shows you exactly where the confidence gap is, and how to close it.
