Why Real Content Beats Polished Creative for Visitor Attractions

Attraction marketing has a persistent belief that professional means polished. That the higher the production value, the better the result.

The data says otherwise.

What happened when we went real

When we switched Hampshire's Top Attractions from traditional brand creative to footage of real families from our Content Days, video views went from 56,000 to 161,000. Interactions rose by 234%.

On paid social, two Content Day ads generated 70% of all leads in the campaign at a 76% lower cost per result. Since Content Days launched in March 2025, the content has reached 920,000 video views and 15,600 interactions across platforms.

Same attractions. Same audience. Different content.

Why real content works

Scroll-stopping content isn't drone footage with a professional voiceover. It's the walkthrough with genuine reactions. The moment a child sees something for the first time. The slightly chaotic reality of a busy half-term afternoon.

You can't stage those moments. You can only be there to capture them.

There's a trust reason too. M.Cast's 2026 Trends Report found that 88% of consumers say authenticity matters when choosing a brand, but only 51% believe brands deliver it. Northwestern University research found that purchase likelihood peaks at ratings between 4.2 and 4.5 stars because perfect scores look too good to be true.

Perfection makes people suspicious. Real makes people trust.

What families want to see from social media

Our own Great Days Out Survey backs this up. When 904 families told us what makes them want to visit, suitability, clear value and honest reviews came top. Beautiful content didn't make the top five.

Families want to see what a visit actually feels like. The parking. The café queue. The dog-friendly path. Real families who look like them, having a genuinely good day.

What a Content Day looks like

A Content Day is a shoot at your attraction, organised by us from start to finish. Our videographer, Annelies, arrives with a pre-briefed family matched to your audience and directs the whole day. Real people, no scripts, no awkward posing.

The family gets a brilliant free visit. You get a ready-to-use content library within seven working days: edited vertical clips for Reels, TikTok and Stories, plus all the raw footage and high-resolution photography.

Why now is the time to shoot content at your visitor attraction

Christmas content shot in November, with real families enjoying real festive moments, beats stock imagery and generic graphics every time. And because most families decide on a day out within a fortnight, fresh content from this month is exactly what they'll see when they're choosing where to go over the holidays.

The seasonal window matters. Content captured in the moment tells a story that content shot any other time simply can't.
